Through the Mayor’s Technology and Innovation Task Force and Greater Houston Partnership’s Innovation Strategy Office, a framework and strategy has been developed to enhance Houston’s tech ecosystem, including the need for well identified, connected, collaborative facilities within an urban “Innovation Corridor” to unlock the potential of this sector.
Linked by light-rail, bike lanes, and sidewalks, Houston’s four-mile-long Innovation Corridor offers easy access to key industry and institutional players and an unparalleled array of amenities. Anchored on the north by Downtown and the south by The Ion and Texas Medical Center, the Innovation Corridor is the center of an extraordinarily powerful social and economic convergence.
Our strategic focus continues to be guided by Plan Downtown, a 20-year framework that envisions downtown as the greatest place to be, as the premiere business and government location, as well as the standard for urban living and an innovative leader in connectivity. A key business strategy focuses on creating collaborative facilities, or an Innovation Hub within Downtown, that will incubate startup businesses, create jobs, and attract venture capital investments to Houston which will benefit the City’s long-term economic strength
